I never leave reviews because it''s a pain in the butt.. like remembering to take the trash out. HOWEVER, this product is a gift from the gods and you should buy 3. I''m a 24yr old mother of 2 in PA, which tells you 1) I''m a sissy bug hater
    2) I dont want to wuss out in front of my kids
    3) PA has all 4 seasons and is the epitome of insect hell

With that being said, I battle stink bugs more often than Trump makes grammatical errors. I hate them and their crunchy bodies, poo- colored camouflage and stench; so when I came across this, Jesus himself said "Listen my child, purchase an ye shall stop shrieking" SOLD!. I''ve had it for less than 2 weeks and it''s already paid for itself. Not only does it trap the freeloaders, but "loading" and shooting it let''s me pretend I''m an old dude trying to get pesky kids off my lawn.

Needless to say, its money well spent. It''s fun, chemical free, and the bugs will tell their nasty friends not to jack with you.

This is the top rated specialized bug/insect collection tool I could find, so... I bought it!

Why four stars? Well, it has very low suction beyond the very tip of the zooka... whatever bug you are trying to trap inside the tip must be right on the very end of the unit.

See the video I am adding to this review and you will see what I''m talking about. I like the concept and it sure can reach the ceiling in the hands of a person over five feet tall. So that spider up in the corner? You can get it easy peasy...

Spider on the wall in the shower? You can be a hero and sip in there and suck it in.... unless it''s a big wolf spider, those wolf spiders just hold onto the intake doors and jump off and run away... sooo, Daddy Long Legs- yes Wolf spiders and larger-don''t even try it.

Jumping spiders jump ON it and don''t get sucked in as they should. So if your target insect is stationary and not easily startled, you can probably suck it in. Flies 50/50 that they let you get close enough. Hornet on the window sill, you can get it! Bald Faced Hornet... don''t even try it! They don''t go inside and you just make them mad as well... a hornet!

Moths, yes... the ant running across the counter.. yes... spider in a web YES. guppy in the fish bowl... unfortunately.. YES it will slurp up small fish in the water.

It''s fun and you can give it to your bug fixated child so he/she can have hours of fun collecting small bugs all over the place. You can even purchase extra intake capsules in packages of three and keep your captives separated until you get home from your insect safari.

You get the replacement clear capsules for $3.00 each... BUT those rascals want $17.00 or shipping alone! NO THANK YOU

So, four stars... low power and you may thump yourself in the shoulder, chest or stomach depending on how your child holds it. Watch out for the rascally ten-year old that learns you can walk up to someone, aim the bellows at your arm, push the red trigger release and punch you with it ('';'')

More suction please with a clearer holding chamber AND extra holding chambers without that terrible shipping price please.

UPDATED THIS REVIEW 10.19.2017 it is still performing very well and is a valuable insect nabbing tool. Bumped it up from 3 Stars to 4 Stars.

Amazing tool for my current Indian Meal Moth infestation and resulting spider population explosion. I just let that trap fill up with 20+ moths/spiders and then empty the whole thing out. A great way of cleaning it is using a hose or anything with a bit of pressure to flush out all the bug bits that can stick to the metal filter.

To comment on the people with broken hinges, I also ran into that issue. However, I managed to fix my hinge (very carefully using a sewing needle, dental floss, and a bent paperclip). It wasn''t easy to fix, but this all could have been avoided if I took the steps detailed below.

First off, with a new Bugzooka, take that trapdoor compartment off and look inside at where the hinges are. You should see two very tiny springs that hold those doors shut. The main problem is that those springs are held in place by these tiny ridges so if they ever get knocked off those ridges, they go off the side and down the crack, like coins disappearing into a couch. The trick is to get some Elmer''s glue and dab a tiny drop onto the ends of the spring wires so that when the glue dries, they can be held in place and be too fat (from the glob of glue) to go down the sides. No more hinge problems.

3/19/2020 UPDATE: Still love my Bugzooka. Still use it almost everyday. No more moths! New tip for trapdoor hinge problems! So I eventually ran into a problem where one of the door flaps gets a little bit stuck in the open position. I would have to tap it on the floor or wall to knock it shut.

It turns out that adjusting the two small metal screws on the sides of the chamber can help with it. By tightening or loosening a screw, it affects how smoothly the trap door flap will operate. So, just run your finger through the trap door as you tighten or loosen the screws until the flaps close shut when you pull out your finger. The flaps may not close completely perfectly, but if they fall into place with a tap, it should be good enough.

Just make sure to check that the flaps close completely after you make a catch. If one of them is still open, just tap it on something to close it. I did that for a while and now the flaps close completely every time.

But they''ve now made them with large gaps in the chamber. If you suck up small spiders or other smaller bugs they can easily crawl right back out. It ships with 2 different suction chambers. The other one was probably worse in that there is also a gap in the middle flaps. (I didn''t get a pic of that one.)

This is the weak point, and of course, the company will sell you a replacement, but only from their website, and it will cost you $20, YES $20 to get one little trap door shipped to you. It''s cheaper to just buy another whole unit. My wife uses it so much that I will buy another one, but if it breaks again forget it. I would have given this thing 4 or 5 stars if the company sold replacement parts at a reasonable price (again outrageous shipping charge!).

We''d had a bugzooka for a few years and it worked great. A life saver for this arachnophobe. Then the little trap doors finally broke, which is normal after a few years of use. I immediately went on Amazon to order another and received it promptly.

To my surprise and GREAT disappointment, they changed the design and it no longer works. Now the flap doors are rubber and they don''t close completely, plus they fold in both directions (inward and outward), so the bugs CAN COME OUT! I''ve had to wrap a plastic bag with a rubber band around it to keep the bugs in. And if I have to use it again before my husband takes the live bugs outside, I''m terrified they will escape when I take the plastic bag off.

So, so, SO disappointed. I miss my old BugZooka. This one is crap, and if I hadn''t thrown out the box I would have returned it immediately after trying to use it.

    PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM!!!

Last year we bought two for our terrible stink bug problem. It worked like a charm. The first one lasted several months before the hinges broke so we put a paper towel with a rubber band over the end and kept using it. Just this week we opened the new one and it lasted exactly one day. This little bug eater is perfect except that it''s defective. It wouldn''t be so bad if you could order a replacement part reasonably.

If you''re seriously grossed out and terrified by bugs, here at last is the secret weapon you NEED. You cock it, hold the business end near the bug, and push the red button. Voila, the bug is sucked into a plastic chamber in a microsecond, out of your life for all practical purposes. The bug isn''t even injured, just confined, so if you''re feeling tenderhearted you can take it outdoors and release it. (Or, you can have your husband empty the plastic "holding cell" once it starts to fill up.) The bug cannot escape, even if you use the BugZooka again immediately. The second bug and subsequent bugs just join the first one, safe and secure. The BugZooka is about 2 feet long, so you don''t even have to get close to your insect victim. I discovered this device the same year I saw my first stink bug (in my house, egad). Not only are stink bugs the nastiest, creepiest creatures ever, they supposedly give off a horrid smell if you smush them. What to do? Happily the BugZooka doesn''t smush them or activate their stink. I can say honestly that my quality-of-life has improved since I''ve had a BugZooka, because I no longer feel distress (or panic!) when I see a wasp or stinkbug. It even works on flies if you''re fast on the trigger. What a great product!

Managed to catch a spider but the poor thing''s legs got damaged as it was sucked into the tube. I managed to pick up a few dead flies on the windowsill. Otherwise, nothing lets you come up close enough for the tiny suction to work. Don''t waste your money. I am going to recycle it into the plastics curbside blue bin. Back to a flyswatter (fliers) and an empty yoghurt container (crawlers) for me. At least with the yoghurt container, you can catch and release successfully and without harming the insect.
